![]() The theme is evil/superstition/darkness and is not about solving a murder. The book is set in a village where there is an undercurrent of darkness throughout. Unfortunately this is not the type of book I like to read. I knew from the start what would happen, and it did. I mean, I never really wanted to write about a vicar. Was it Reichenbach Falls time for Merrily Watkins? Certainly the point at which some crime writers I could name (but obviously won’t) began to run out of ideas. ![]() And ten books does seem like a complete series. He also presents the Radio Wales book programme “Phil the Shelf”. Music is often a theme in his novels as well and they range from the fictional to the real. He has won awards for his television and radio journalism. The Secrets of Pain is the 10th book in the Merrily Watkins Series.
